My Summer TBR

 Hey Bookworms!

Lately I have been craving summer. Summer is one of my favorite seasons. The weather, the food, the lack of schoolwork, and the time for reading make it something I love. Recently, the temperature where I live has been rising, and the flowers are blooming, so I decided it was time to share some of the books I plan on reading this summer! These are only a few. I really hope to make the most of my time this summer and read as many books possible, but that would make for a really long blog post!

Everyone’s favorite redhead, the spunky Anne Shirley, begins her adventures at Green Gables, a farm outside Avonlea, Prince Edward Island. When the freckled girl realizes that the elderly Cuthberts wanted to adopt a boy instead, she begins to try to win them and, consequently, the reader, over.
I bought Anne of Green Gables almost a year ago at my library’s book sale, and I never got around to reading it. Classics tend to intimidate me a bit, since they aren’t my favorite genre, but I’ve heard such great things about this book that I simply must read it.

In Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she’s chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she’s kept hidden from everyone because she’s been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

I am so late on this one… But better late than never! I had heard a lot of mixed reviews about this book, and I decided that it is about time I decide for myself if it’s a good read!

Lara Jean keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her, these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved—five in all. When she writes, she can pour out her heart and soul and say all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control.

I saw this book all over bookstagram and after reading the synopsis I could see why it was so hyped! It seems so cute and can we please talk about how aesthetically pleasing that cover is?! I’m obsessed!

Andie had it all planned out. When you are a politician’s daughter who’s pretty much raised yourself, you learn everything can be planned or spun, or both. Especially your future. Important internship? Check. Amazing friends? Check. Guys? Check (as long as we’re talking no more than three weeks).

But that was before the scandal. Before having to be in the same house with her dad. Before walking an insane number of dogs. That was before Clark and those few months that might change her whole life. Because here’s the thing—if everything’s planned out, you can never find the unexpected. And where’s the fun in that?

As soon as I finished Since You’ve Been Gone, I decided that I absolutely needed more Morgan Matson, so I ran out and picked up this book. I am so excited to read this one. The premise sounds promising, and it seems like the perfect summer read!

Clare Macleod has lived all her life with an awareness of the Strange, tales of fairies and magic-making told to her by her mother who died years ago. No longer a child, Clare has learned to suppress the magic that haunted the corners of her life, to say the word “fairy” with the appropriate disbelief. But after years of living in America, Clare and her father are returning to Ireland, to the house Clare was born in—a house built into a hillside with an ancient tree for a wall. For Clare, the house is not only full of memories of her mother, but of the Strange and a mysterious boy with raven-dark hair and of dreamlike nights filled with stars and magic. In this place, magic—both bright and dark—will not sit quietly in a corner.

I have had this book forever. I remember being so excited to buy it but I never read it! I haven’t read a lot of fantasy lately, and I would love to get back into the genre. I think this book sounds so interesting. I love Ireland but I’ve never read a book set there! I am looking forward to reading this one.

So those are the books I plan on reading this summer (or sooner! I might not be able to wait…)
